Laser tattoo removal: StarWalker MaQX

Effective and safe solution for removing all kinds of tattoos and permanent makeup

Indications for the treatment

Unwanted tattoos

Traumatic tattoos

Colored tattoos

Failed permanent makeup

Today, tattoos are a popular and modern trend. For some it is fashionable jewelry, for some it is a reminder of something important, and for some it is a mistake of youth. Often permanent makeup becomes a bad experience, which is all the more desirable to erase in the literal sense of the word.

In modern medicine, an example of quality research on removing unwanted skin pigmentation with non-ablative methods is the effect of neodymium laser. However, professional laser tattoo removal requires different wavelengths that are selectively absorbed by each dye color.

The patented FracTAT™ tattoo removal procedure by Fotona further increases the effectiveness of the treatment in a single session.

Fotona’s innovative FracTAT® procedure can be performed with the ASP-powered StarWalker laser system. First, micro-holes are drilled into the skin using a special ablative laser handpiece and MaQX10 laser pulses. The micro-holes act as pressure relief channels through which the gases generated during treatment can escape without creating excessive pressure. This allows the laser to reach deeper pigments and promotes faster removal of colored pigments from the skin.

Standard Treatment

Before the treatment
First treatment with a Q-switched pulse
Gas bubbles following the Q-switched treatment
Subsequent Q-switched pulses are blocked from reaching deeper lying pigments

FracTat™ treatment

Micro holes are drilled with an ablative fractional laser
First treatment with a MaQX pulse
Reduced frosting effect
Subsequent MaQX pulses are not blocked from reaching deeper lying pigments

Features of the procedure

Q-switched lasers are the ideal tools for effectively removing complex and multi-color tattoos. Multi-wavelength Q-switched, doubled frequency KTP laser systems have the unique ability to generate very short pulses of intense light that pass harmlessly through the upper layers of the skin, allowing virtually all common pigment colors to be treated.By combining four additional wavelengths and 14 laser modalities, the StarWalker functions as a very versatile multipurpose system that performs a wide range of aesthetic applications. StarWalker’s energy, four colors and patented FracTAT™ procedure also make StarWalker the industry’s leading laser system for tattoo removal.

What is the procedure?

Laser removal of a tattoo or unwanted pigments on the skin is performed in several stages.

Stage 1: the specialist looks at the place where the procedure will be done, assesses the working area and defines the skin phototype.

Stage 2: laser treatment. If necessary, the hair from the treated area is removed before the procedure. Clients are given protective goggles to protect their eyes from the bright laser flash.

The photoacoustic wave causes mechanical trauma in the epidermis and dermis. Only pigment-containing cells and pigment granules in the intercellular space are destroyed to the smallest particles. The destruction of the particles is accompanied by the formation of plasma and a gas collagen shield over the upper layer of pigment, which leads to an instant brightening of the pattern.

But since the surrounding tissues are not damaged, skin recovery occurs without scarring. Since the amount of impregnated pigment is quite large and the laser radiation can only affect the upper layer of pigment, several procedures are necessary to completely remove the pattern.

The 3 final stage: application of therapeutic creams and further recommendations by your specialist.
